Global SCADA market to 2020
According to a recent report by MarketsandMarkets, the SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) market is expected to reach up to US$ 11.16 billion by 2020, at an estimated compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 7.24% from 2014 to 2020.
SCADA is an industrial control system that is used to gather data from sensors and instruments located at remote sites and then transmit and display this data at a central site for controlling/monitoring purposes.
Industrial control systems (ICS) security market is expected to experience significant growth over the coming years due to growing demand for process automation and remote control. It has thus forced the companies to expand their existing infrastructure and also deal with a variety of security challenges such as cyber attacks, insider criminal activities and global competition.
SCADA systems are used mainly for industry verticals such as oil and gas, power and water/wastewater applications.
Major players in the SCADA market include ABB Ltd., Rockwell Automation, and Siemens AG.
