American Public Gas Association

Questar Fueling Company has opened its newest compressed natural gas (CNG) station in Dallas as part of a partnership with Frito-Lay inc, and other companies. Questar is an integrated gas services company with businesses including retail natural gas distribution, interstate natural gas transportation, and natural gas and oil development and production. The fast fill station will include six high speed fuelling lanes for Frito-Lay’s tractor trailers and other partners’ medium and heavy duty trucks. The station will also be open to the public.

CITGO

The CITGO Lake Charles refinery celebrated 70 years of operations in Louisiana on October 16. The refinery, which first went online in 1944, is the largest CITGO refinery and produces more than 3.2 billion gal./y of gasoline, diesel, jet fuel and other finished petroleum products. Hundreds of employees, current and retired, as well as officials, community leaders and organisations joined CITGO to participate in the 70th anniversary celebration.

Nelson P. Martinez, CITGO President and CEO said, ‘CITGO is proud of our Louisiana heritage and our long history of providing fuel for residents and industries throughout the US. The community minded attitude embraced by the team at our Lake Charles refinery is reflective of a larger, company wide commitment to all communities in which we live and operate.’

Endress + Hauser

Endress + Hauser has developed a new underground test rig in Japan that allows for highly precise calibration of tank gauging instruments. On October 17, General Manager Yasuyuki Inoue, Managing Director Andreas Mayr and CEO Matthias Altendorf welcomed numerous guests from business and politics to the inauguration ceremony. Endress + Hauser has invested 2.7 million Euros in the new rig for the calibration of high precision tank gauging instruments developed and produced at the factory in Japan. The plant equipped with state of the art laser technology can precisely simulate a measuring distance of 40 m to calibrate the instruments accurately for their use in the large tanks of the process industry.

The space required for a test rig of this length is provided by a circular shaft underneath the new building; only a small section of the plant is situated above the ground while the actual measurement takes place far below. The test rig was built according to international standards and has already received certification from the international organisations NMI and PTB. In future, the current Proservo NMS5 level sensor will be calibrated at this plant, and the new Proserbo NMS8 can already be tested on the test rig during its development.

GSE

GSE Systems Inc. has announced that Specialized Petroleum technologies LLC (SPT), contracted with GSE to provide state of the art training products and services to Kasipkor Holding’s Atyrau Petroleum education Centre in Kazakhstan. The SPT contract is among multiple new projects, with an aggregate value of US$ 17.5 million, announced by GSE earlier this month.

The Atyrau Petroleum Education Center is an interregional centre for training and retaining personnel in the oil and gas industry. The centre was established in the context of a world class system of colleges by Kasipkor Holding. The main goal of Kasipkor Holding is to create a network of colleges that meet high international standards while implementing the world’s best practices for training and management in vocational and technical education.

Heraeus

Heraeus has announced the opening of its Greater China Regional Headquarters in Shanghai. It is a strategic step of Heraeus towards its Vision 2020 and demonstrates its commitment to accelerating development in the Greater China region, one of its key markets. Celebrating the significant moment where nearly 100 guests including government officials, Germans institutions’ representatives, customers and partners together with Heraeus Holding Board of Management, Executive Committee, and Greater China management team and other employees.

KBR

KBR Inc., has announced that the KD Consortium, consisting of KBR, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Company, Ltd, has been awarded a FEED contract by Eni East Africa SpA for a floating LNG (FLNG) facility for the Coral South Development Project in Mozambique. With the award, the KD Consortium will be one of three consortia competing for the engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning (EPCIC) contract to build the new FLNG facility.

Stuart Bradie, KBR President and CEO said, ‘developing a cost effective solution for the first FLNG vessel in Mozambique was the rationale for developing the KD Consortium. The consortium allows us to leverage the strength of both companies to provide the client the best choice for the EPCIC portion of the project.’

Pentair

Pentair Valves & Controls has commissioned a new pressure relief valve testing facility to help meet Asia’s growing need for pressure relief systems in critical applications for the power generation, oil and gas, process and petrochemicals industries. The new steam testing facility expands Pentair’s current China based manufacturing, assembly, sales, startup, maintenance, and repair capabilities with the addition of testing services for Pentair’s highly regarded Crosby and Anderson Greenwood branded pressure management solutions.
