Australian LNG shipments hit record

This record shipment constituted a total of 81 cargoes, up from 74 cargoes (4.9 million t) in June 2017. EnergyQuest attributed the increased shipments to higher output from Gorgon (1.4 million t) and North West Shelf (NWS) (1.5 million t), as well as steady Queensland output (1.7 million t). West coast projects shipped 3.7 million t in July.

On average, west coast projects operated at 108% of nameplate capacity on an annualised basis, while projects in Queensland only operated at 81%, notwithstanding Australia Pacific LNG (APLNG), which averaged 110%.

The volume of LNG deliveries from Australia was higher in July than June (5.1 million t compared with 4.8 million t). Japan, China and South Korea comprised 89% of deliveries in July. Notably, exports to South Korea were up almost 300% in July 2017 compared to the corresponding period of last year.
