RasGas Co. Ltd has announced that it has delivered the 5000th cargo from its Helium-2 plant in Doha, Qatar.
Last year, RasGas celebrated the 5000th milestone delivery from the Helium-1 plant.
Helium-2 became the world’s largest helium purification and liquefaction unit upon start-up in July 2013 and reached 100% annual production capacity of 1570 million ft3 less than a year later.
Ali Khalaf Al-Kaabi, RasGas’ Interim Chief Marketing and Shipping Officer, said: “RasGas is pleased to mark its second milestone with helium delivery of 5000th cargo from Helium 2 plant, highlighting Qatar’s unique flexible production capabilities, and asserting the country’s global positioning as prime helium producers and exporters. Helium-2 production currently stands at more than 1400 cargoes per year.”
The Helium 2 plant incorporates complex and advanced technology that captures, extracts and refines crude helium from six LNG mega trains: RasGas’ trains 6 and 7, and Qatargas’ trains 4, 5, 6 and 7.
