TMEIC to supply a motor and drive to Louisiana

Hydrocarbon Engineering,

TMEIC Corp. has been awarded a large motor and drive contract from Dresser Rand business, part of Siemens Power and Gas Division. The company is to supply the equipment to the CO2 recycle DATUM® turbo compressor at the Denbury Onshore LLC natural gas liquids plant in Delhi, Louisiana.

TMEIC’s large, four-pole, 20 450 HP induction motor is manufactured for variable speed operation at up to 1780 rpm, directly coupled to the compressor. It runs at 6000 V.

Motor starting and adjustable speed operation is provided by a TMEIC TMdrive-XL75 variable frequency drive rated at 23 MVA. This contains a multi-pulse diode converter supplied from a phase shifted transformer which ensures a high power factor and low harmonic distortion levels. Liquid cooling is supplied from a redundant pumping unit connected to a fan cooled outdoor water-to-air heat exchanger.
