Next generation oil and gas workforce
The API has officially launched www.oilgasworkforce.com, a new website that provides information to anyone interested in careers, training, and certifications in the oil and natural gas industry.
A recent report by IHS predicts that an additional 1.3 million new career opportunities are going to be available in the oil and gas industry by 2030, and a 2013 Energy Information Administration study estimates that job growth has been 40 times higher in the oil and natural gas industry compared to the economy as a whole.
Comments
John Modine, API vice president, Global Industry Services said, ‘the website is another tool building on API’s worldwide leadership in standards, training and certification to strengthen the next generation of oil and natural gas development and the industry workforce. Our goal is to create a resource to help meet our nation’s ever growing need for a workforce that can help us realise our energy potential for the future.
‘The 21st century energy revolution ahs made the US the largest producer of oil and natural gas in the world, and we are on track to become the largest producer of crude within a few years. The rapid expansion of energy production in our country has created hundreds of thousands of job opportunities at a level of pay significantly higher than the national average.’
The website
The website is offered in both English and Spanish and builds on existing recruiting initiatives by API and companies to reach veterans’ groups, labour unions, African American and Hispanic communities, and colleges and universities.
