India

A Rs 37 000 crore 9 million tpy refinery and petrochemical complex has been planned for Rajasthan’s Barmer district. A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between the Hindustan Petroleum Corporation and Rajasthan government.

Indonesia

Pertamina is to partner with Thailand’s PTT Global Chemical to construct a US$ 5 billion petrochemical facility in Indonesia. 11 companies were originally considered as potential partners including SK Global Chemical of South Korea and Mitsubishi of Japan. It has taken several months to decide on the final partnership with PTT Global Chemical. The new plant is expected to have a total annual production capacity of 600 000 t of ethylene and polypropylene and 400 000 t of polyethylene and polyvinyl chloride.

USA

CHS Inc. is looking to expand the McPherson refinery in Kansas. The farm and energy cooperative will be spending US$ 327 million on increasing production capacity at the plant from 85 000 bpd to 100 00 bpd. The work is scheduled to be completed in 2016.

United Biofuels Inc., has bought a biodiesel facility that is currently under construction. The plant is located in the Brooklyn area of New York and is predicted to be operation by the end of this year with the ability to process 50 million gal./y of feedstocks.

Bp-Husky Refining LLC has commissioned a new naphtha reformer for the Toledo refinery in Oregon, Ohio. The new unit, called Reformer 3, has cost the joint venture US$ 400 million and has taken 1500 workers over two years to construct and install.
