API on the White House list of unnecessary and costly regulations

Hydrocarbon Engineering,

The API was pleased to hear that the White House is planning on eliminating regulations such as vapour recovery systems at gasoline pumps as they deem them unnecessary and costly to American jobs and the economy. However, the API is now urging the White House to eliminate the upcoming GHG, Tier III and PM NAAQS regulations that they believe will be even more detrimental to the US.

Comments

‘The administration is taking steps in the right direction by eliminating regulations that needlessly harm the economy and jobs,’ said Howard Feldman, API director of regulatory and scientific affairs. ‘However, there are even bigger threats to the economy such as EPA’s imposition of GHG emissions standards for refineries, further reduction in gasoline sulfur levels, and tightening of the already protective fine particle air quality standards. We urge the White House to eliminate them. Air quality continues to improve dramatically.’
