Gföllner Group have established a joint venture in the US, INNIO Gfoellner Power Systems LLC (IGPS). The joint venture aims to meet the rising demand for decentralised, flexible energy solutions.

INNIO will hold a majority stake in the new company and will provide its high-performance Jenbacher gas engines, which will be containerised on site to create modular energy solutions.

“This joint venture is another important step forward on our growth path. With decentralised plug-and-play energy solutions, we aim help meet the rapidly growing energy demands of the US,” said Dr. Olaf Berlien, President and CEO of INNIO Group.

Production of the container modules with Jenbacher engines is scheduled to begin by the end of 2025. By 2028, the capacity of the containers produced will be capable of delivering well over 1 GW/y. The container modules will be manufactured in Trenton, New Jersey, US.

“This joint venture supports the expansion of North America’s energy infrastructure through decentralised container systems. Gföllner is committed to enabling a secure and sustainable energy supply worldwide,” said Karl Pühretmair, owner and CEO of Gföllner.

INNIO intends to expand its US workforce by around 50% in the coming years. In Trenton alone, more than 200 new jobs – primarily in production – are planned.
