The three leaders have called for congressional and state hearings to investigate the closures stating that there will be overwhelming effects on employment and northeast oil product supplies, as well as oil prices, if they are allowed to cease production. Sunoco

The facility was taken offline two years ago and during a council meeting in the Westville area where the facility is, there was a debate as to what to do with the 1100 acre industrial site. Sunoco’s first option is to use the facility as a storage and distribution terminal for crude oil. The oil will likely come from the Bakken Shale region in North Dakota. The other option is to use the site as a natural gas storage facility in partnership with MarkWest Liberty.
