Calumet Speciality Products Partners

The above company have announced that its subsidiary Calumet Lubricants Co., LP, has acquired TruSouth Oil, LLC. TruSouth Oil is a speciality petroleum packaging and distribution company based in Louisiana. The terms of the acquisition were not released however, they were approved by all directors involved.

Philadelphia

Philadelphia based United Steelworkers union leaders have spoken out about the impending closures of three Philadelphia based oil refining facilities. The three leaders have called for congressional and state hearings to investigate the closures stating that there will be overwhelming effects on employment and northeast oil product supplies, as well as oil prices, if they are allowed to cease production. One of the facilities in question is Sunoco’s Marcus Hook plant and another is ConocoPhillips Trainer refinery.

Shell

Shell has announced the completion of transferring all its Human Resource and payroll application management services to Accenture. The services being provided by Accentre includes preventative maintenance, change management, data archiving, management documentation, service desk support, incident resolution, application operations along with several others.

Suncor

Nearly 500 workers at Suncor’s Denver facility are being tested for benzene poisoning/contamination. This is due to benzene contaminated tap water and the contamination of Sand Creek. It is not known how long tap water at the refinery has been contaminated and it is reported that results of the blood tests will be kept confidential.

Sunoco

Sunoco have announced two possible plans for the idled Eagle Point refinery. The facility was taken offline two years ago and during a council meeting in the Westville area where the facility is, there was a debate as to what to do with the 1100 acre industrial site. Sunoco’s first option is to use the facility as a storage and distribution terminal for crude oil. The oil will likely come from the Bakken Shale region in North Dakota. The other option is to use the site as a natural gas storage facility in partnership with MarkWest Liberty.
