California
The crude processing unit at Chevron Corp’s Richmond refinery remains temporarily shut down due to the fire on 6th August. Other parts of the refinery unaffected by the incident continue to operate. The company continues to make transportation fuels and lubricants, but at a reduced capacity. Chevron continues to be adequately supplied to meet its customers’ demands for fuel.
Also on Friday, a power failure was experienced at the ExxonMobil Torrence refinery. It has been reported that the power failure did not have any impact on production and was due to an outage at the Southern California Edison substation.
Canada
In British Colombia, Chevron’s refinery is in a bidding war with Tesoro, BP, Phillipps 66 and Shell for crude shipped to the region by Kinder Morgan. Refineries in the area have not been processing at high capacities and the Chevron refinery has applied to the Canadian National Energy Board to become an area priority destination to ensure enough crude reaches the plant.
Texas
After the fire at ExxonMobil’s Baytown refinery last Friday, equipment inspections are still underway to assess the damage and cause of the fire. Hydrofining unit no. 10 was affected by a fire in associated reactors. After initial inspections it has been reported that no other units have been affected.
