Following a leak at the Caltex refinery in May, Environment Department inspectors found no trace of oil or petrol in the powder that was released. 90 t of synthetic zeolite was released in to the atmosphere and descended upon port employees and surrounding vehicles.
Sinopec has signed a pact with Kuwait Petroleum Co. in order to enhance cooperation within the oil sector. The deal indicates that both parties could be returning to talks for a joint venture refinery in Shanjiang, Guangdong province.
Numaligarh Refinery Ltd has launched an online bill tracking system. The plant has done this in an effort to bring transparency and improve the system. The system will allow the company’s suppliers, contractors and service providers to view online the status of their bills with ease.
Bashneft has announced that it will be using GE’s new membrane bioreactor and membrane accommodating carrier for refinery wastewater treatment. The technology will be installed in the Bashneft-Ufaneftekhim oil refinery as well as other facilities in the Northern Industrial Block of Ufa. The company has also selected GE’s ZeeWeed technology for its wastewater treatment plant.
Uganda has received proposals from four international companies to build the country’s first oil refinery. The companies are four of the six shortlisted in 2013 by Uganda to construct the plant in the Lake Albertine Rift basin. The submitted plans will be assessed this month and a successful applicant will be announced shortly after. The plant, once complete will have a processing capacity of 60 000 bpd.
CHS Inc. has announced that it has acquired Illinois River Energy LLC from Sinav Limited, London. The terms have not been disclosed. The 133 million gal./y ethanol plant will be rebranded as CHS and 60 people will becomes CHS Inc. employees. CHS markets renewable fuels to energy customers across the US and through 1400 Cenez branded retail petroleum outlets.
