ACHEMA 2015 Preview: A - D

Hydrocarbon Engineering,

Hydrocarbon Engineering previews a selection of companies active within the downstream hydrocarbon processing industry that will be exhibiting at ACHEMA 2015.

AEREON: Hall 5.1, Stand D86

AEREON is a global leader in the supply of high quality technologies and services for gas and vapour handling, combustion and recovery for the oil and gas industries. Under the Flare Industries and Jordan Technologies brands, AEREON offers the broadest product line of engineered flare systems, enclosed combustion systems, ignition systems and vapour recovery units, and is one of the largest service companies for combustion and vapour recovery equipment in the world.

AEREON provides comprehensive solutions for gas and vapour handling, combustion and recovery that allow its customers to meet stringent air quality regulations by offering a broad suite of quality products and services for the upstream, midstream and downstream markets. It specialises in innovative, high quality and cost effective custom engineered or standard options for flares, high efficiency combustors, thermal oxidisers, and vapour recovery units.AEREON’s world class air quality and pollution control equipment is designed by some of the most experienced engineers in the industry. The focus is to provide cutting edge combustion and environmental technology, experience, innovation, and superior service; all of which give its growing client base successful solutions and the highest level of quality and satisfaction.

AMETEK: Hall 4.2, Stand J8

SPECTRO Analytical Instruments, a unit of the Materials Analysis Division of AMETEK, Inc., plans to showcase its new SPECTRO ARCOS high resolution ICP-OES spectrometer at the ACHEMA 2015 exhibition. The SPECTRO ARCOS is the first and only spectrometer featuring the fast and convenient selection of axial plasma or radial plasma observation in a single instrument, without any optical compromise.

Designed for use in the most demanding elemental analysis applications in industry, science, and academia, the new SPECTRO ARCOS easily surpasses the performance limitations of conventional ICP-OES instruments, dramatically improving sensitivity, stability, and precision.

The new SPECTRO ARCOS establishes a new ICP-OES performance class for complex analytical tasks, resolving a wide array of inherent problems in traditional spectrometer design, and caps 30 years of SPECTO experience in developing advanced solutions for the elemental analysis of metals, chemicals, petrochemicals and other materials.

Features of the new SPECTRO ARCOS include:

  • Axial or radial plasma observation.
  • ORCA optical system.
  • Innovative power generator.
  • Elimination of the need for purge gases.
  • No external cooling system.

Anguil Environmental: Hall 9.1, Stand B48

Increasingly stringent clean air standards are forcing chemical processing companies to pay more attention to the design, operation and maintenance of air pollution control equipment. Selecting the proper abatement system and supplier can mean the difference between regulatory compliance and a process shutdown. Anguil Environmental has been supplying off gas treatment systems to the chemical processing industry for almost 40 years. Its vapour combustion and oxidation technologies have been successfully applied on numerous processes, from tank vents and API separators to mixing operations and coating applications. The company designs, manufactures, installs, and services thermal and catalytic oxidisers for the destruction of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), hazardous air pollutants (HAPs), nitrogen oxides (NOX) and odorous emissions. Anguil abatement technologies offer high destruction efficiency, low operating cost, system reliability and minimal carbon output. In addition, it has the necessary experience to control halogenated streams containing chlorinated, brominated and fluorinated compounds, which are often emitted during chemical processing.

AVEVA, Hall 9.2, Stand C29

At ACHEMA 2015, AVEVA will showcase its Digital Asset approach to information management. The Digital Asset supports all the key capabilities necessary to take a physical asset through the CAPEX and OPEX stages of its entire life cycle.

There will be an opportunity to see demonstrations of tight integration between 2D and 3D engineering and design applications. AVEVA’s Integrated Engineering & Design solution ensures information integrity and provides powerful Change Highlighting and Compare & Update functions for robust version control throughout the iterative design process.

In addition, AVEVA will be showing previews of its latest R&D technology combining touch screen, high definition 3D model viewing with the powerful Information Management capabilities of AVEVA NET™.

CALGAVIN: Hall 4, Stand J45

CALGAVIN has been attending ACHEMA since the early 1990s, and this year it will be close to 25 years that it has been exhibiting at the event. This is a great opportunity to demonstrate how the company has evolved into a heat transfer consultancy firm and to display its manufactured thermal enhancement systems, such as hiTRAN thermal systems and twisted tapes. This technology can be incorporated into new designs or retrofitted to enhance energy and cost saving.

CALGAVIN offers design services, air cooler troubleshooting and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) services that can all be applied to improve heat exchanger performance or enhance new designs. There will be a number of CALGAVIN staff available on the stand at any given time, who will be happy to provide guided tours of the company’s exhibit.

CD-adapco: Hall 9.2, Stand C10

CD-adapco™ has been offering multi physics solutions for the chemical, oil and gas industries for over 35 years. The company boasts an international presence with 34 offices across the globe and offers world class consulting services, allowing for expert outsourcing of analysis.

STAR-CCM+®, CD-adapco’s flagship simulation tool, can simulate multiphase flows of gas liquid, solid liquid or gas solid in critical processing equipment, starting from small scale equipment such as valves, flowmeters and pumps all the way to larger equipment such as bubble columns, cyclones, FCC, membrane separators, etc. In the chemicals segment, CD-adapco provides dedicated vertical tools for analysis and design for packed bed reactors and stirred reactors.

In the oil and gas field, applications include separation of fluids, solids management, erosion simulation, and heat transfer management in the upstream and downstream areas. STAR-CCM+ is also routinely used in the analysis of loadings on risers and moorings for offshore platforms and marine hull analysis.

In addition, fluid dynamic simulation of safety analysis by building risk scenarios, gas dispersion and fire analysis on offshore, onshore and chemical processing plants is an emerging area in the HSE departments of the oil, gas and chemical industries.
