Australian Hydrogen Council reaches 50 member milestone

The 50^th member milestone was achieved when Sun Metals joined in mid-October, and this was closely followed by another seven members: Baker Hughes, Global Energy Ventures, Chart Australia, S&P Global Platts, Worley, UL Renewables and Luxfer Australia.

“The hydrogen sector is increasingly being seen as an important part of the future energy mix,” said Dr Fiona Simon, CEO of the Australian Hydrogen Council. “The confidence underpinning this hydrogen sector expansion and investment is being demonstrated through our fast-growing membership, even during the pandemic.”

The new members announced today follow 10 other new members who joined since June this year, including Valmec, Emerson, Foton Bus Australia, Custom Denning, Hydro Tasmania, Sumitomo, National Australia Bank, Horizon Power, Southern Green Gas, and Jacobs.

“The range of companies – which includes electricity generators, bus companies, technology and equipment suppliers, construction engineers, a bank, a green gas producer, a consultant, a ship company, a testing and certification specialist, a chemical company and an investment house – demonstrates the growing value of hydrogen to the economy as we enter the energy transition.

“There is great optimism that hydrogen can step in as a clean replacement fuel in many commercial operations and significantly reduce the per capita greenhouse gas emissions in Australia.

“There is also incredible export potential to earn more energy dollars for our economy – and that is also driving a lot of the new commitment to be part of the AHC.

“I am very proud that the AHC has grown to become an important driver of, and contributor to, hydrogen policy and industry connections. We started with a smaller base focussed on passenger mobility to now 57 members who cover the entire hydrogen supply chain,” concluded Simon.
