EPCA acts to encourage young people to choose scientific careers
The European Petrochemical Association (EPCA) has publicly presented a film, ‘Science: Where can it take you?’ in an attempt to persuade young people to undertake careers in scientific fields.
The film seeks to highlight the fact that the chemical industry is a good industry to work for, offering stimulating and rewarding job opportunities. Its main purpose is to raise youth interest in the study of science, technology, engineering and mathematics and there is a clear focus on gender equality.
Aimed specifically at students aged from 14 – 18, as well as their parents and teachers, the film is available in English and 13 other languages. It can be watched for free at www.sciencewherecanittakeyou.com. Additional material is also available, including a guideline describing the career possibilities in the chemical industry and a one page flyer detailing chemistry’s impact and the industry’s career prospects.
