DOE releases RFI on hydrogen storage

The US Department of Energy's (DOE) Fuel Cell Technologies Office has issued a request for information (RFI) to obtain feedback and input from stakeholders on strategies and potential pathways for cost reduction and performance improvements of composite overwrapped pressure vessel (COPV) systems for compressed hydrogen storage for onboard vehicle applications.

The high cost of COPVs is a barrier to the widespread commercial deployment of fuel cell electric vehicles. The DOE requests information on technology strategies and pathways to reduce the cost of COPV components and on technology strategies to improve system performance. The purpose of this RFI is to identify future strategic research and development pathways for the Fuel Cell Technologies Office to pursue with potential to meet future system cost targets.

RFI responses must be received no later than 5 pm Eastern Daylight Time on 30 June 2016. This RFI is not a funding opportunity announcement.
