Free CNG for new fleet purchases
Westport Innovations has extended an offer of free CNG fuel for the purchase of light duty vehicles to fleet owners through December 31st 2013. Fleets that by a minimum of five Ford vehicles powered by the Westport WiNG system will receive credits that are valid for two years to exchange for free CNG at any Clean Energy Fuels refuelling station. The number of credits received will depend on the number of vehicles purchased.
Acquisition of 18 waste management CNG trucks
The City of Mesa, Arizona has announced plans to acquire 18 new CNG trucks for the city’s waste management department over the next two years.
The use of CNG as a fuel in refuse trucks can provide environmental and quality of life benefits to communities around the US. CNG refuse trucks emit up to 70% less carbon monoxide and up to 75% less nitrogen oxide than older regular gasoline powered trucks, thereby improving local air quality and helping to meet state and national environmental goals. CNG trucks are also significantly quieter than traditional gasoline and diesel vehicles.
