The Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) has awarded EthosEnergy with two new operations and maintenance (O&M) contracts and renewed an additional two contracts, totalling US$116 million.

"Reliability in the utility industry is critical. As a community owned utility, generation to meet our customer-owners' demand is paramount," says Ross Gould SMUD Manager of Thermal Generation and Gas Pipeline Assets. "Excellent safety, performance and a proven ability to operate reliably are priorities when we consider a vendor to provide operations and maintenance for our thermal generation fleet of assets. These contracts expand our almost ten year relationship with EthosEnergy."

"Focussing on the needs of SMUD, we designed a solution to focus on the efficient operation of the facilities. This solution includes the application of our full service facility performance management technology and onsite performance engineering support to SMUD's entire thermal generation fleet of assets, focused on extracting more value from assets. Our performance management systems and technology are designed to drive facility production efficiency and identify improvements that will deliver long term efficiency and associated savings," said Charlie Hoock, Senior Vice President of Operations and Maintenance, EthosEnergy.

All four contracts, across five plants, will extend from 1 January 2016 through December 2020 and will provide 60 people with employment.

EthosEnergy will operate and maintain the Central Valley Financing Authority (CVFA) Cogen I, the Sacramento Cogeneration Authority (SCA) Cogen II, the Sacramento Power Authority (SPA) Cogen III, the McClellan Gas Turbine (MGT) and the Cosumnes Power Plant (CPP).

EthosEnergy has previously provided SMUD with gas turbine parts, ECOMAX®, performance optimisation and auto tuning, as well as field services on their Frame 7FA, Frame 7E, and LM6000 gas turbines.

O&M services and performance optimisation are part of the overall products and services offered by EthosEnergy and designed to maximise the return on a customer's investment in power generation technologies.
