Neste and Avfuel supply SAF to Viva Aerobus

The fuelling milestone positions Viva Aerobus as a Mexican leader in reducing the aviation industry’s carbon footprint. With a delivery of 28 000 l (7500 gal.) of Neste MY Sustainable Aviation Fuel^TM, Viva Aerobus was able to reduce carbon emissions by 21 t of CO₂ equivalent calculated over the life cycle when compared with conventional jet fuel, the equivalent of the amount of CO₂ sequestered by 24.9 acres of US forests per year.

Viva has set an ambitious goal to purchase 1 million l (or nearly 265 000 gal.) of SAF. To reach this goal, Avfuel and Neste are collaborating with Viva on a potential long-term SAF supply agreement. Neste, with its global, fast-growing SAF production, and Avfuel, with its global distribution logistics expertise, are uniquely positioned to help Viva to achieve its SAF commitment.

Neste MY Sustainable Aviation Fuel is made from sustainably sourced, renewable waste and residue materials — such as used cooking oil. It is a fully approved drop-in fuel that, once blended with petroleum jet fuel, meets ASTM D-1655 specification for conventional jet fuel and performance standards under all operating conditions.
