Hydrocracking Solutions for Operational Flexibility, Sustainability and Profitability

ON DEMAND - The current fuel products market is dynamic, competitive and techno-commercially challenging for refiners. To maximise margins, refiners need to process heavier and more sour crude oils, while intending to achieve the highest light product yields and volume gain. Furthermore, global low-carbon fuel policies require a reduction in the carbon intensity of transportation fuels which drive the demand growth for processing of lipid feedstocks.

Hydrocracking units enable refiners to adapt with these market dynamics and maximise profitability by:

  • Converting high refractory feedstocks (such as imported or cracked VGO, DAO, etc) into high-value premium quality fuels (low sulfur gasoline, jet and diesel), while also having the flexibility to balance products slates.
  • Increasing the volumetric yield of products.
  • Co-processing lipid feedstocks (such as used cooking oil, animal fat, vegetable oil, etc) for the production of renewable fuels and minimising CO2 footprint.

Given the significance outlined above, this webinar details how Axens’ state-of-the-art catalytic solutions for hydrocracking units are optimised, taking into consideration the impact of feed hydrocarbon molecules, unit operating conditions, unit configuration, catalyst pore size distribution, zeolite type and mesoporosity. Axens’ hydrocracking catalyst solutions are based on extensive pilot testing and industrial experience. These offer a very low deactivation rate even with high nitrogen content, and exhibit high conversion efficiency as well as high selectivity with widespread commercial applications.

For units envisaging co-processing of lipid and fossil feedstocks, a deep understanding of lipid feed quality, lipid feed reaction chemistry, catalyst development and hydrocracking unit process design, allows Axens to offer holistic solutions. These solutions utilise, as applicable, a combination of specialised gradings, catalysts, equipment, and process reviews, which enables refiners to maximise utilisation of existing assets while consistently achieving an attractive product yield pattern and meeting stringent product quality specifications.
