From 99.5% to 99.9% sulfur removal: Axens’ SmartSulf® success story at KOC
This webinar will explore the successful implementation of Axens’ SmartSulf® sulfur recovery technology at Kuwait Oil Co.’s Jurassic Production Facilities (JPF-4 and JPF-5), commissioned in 2024 as part of Kuwait’s ongoing sour gas development strategy. As operators increasingly process gas streams with high H2S and CO2 concentrations, efficient sulfur recovery has become essential for achieving environmental compliance while maximising gas monetisation.
The presentation will review the design and operating principles of the patented SmartSulf® process, highlighting how its switching catalytic reactors with internal cooling enable enhanced sulfur conversion efficiency compared with conventional Claus technologies. Drawing on more than seven years of operating experience at JPF-3 and over two years of successful operation at JPF-4 and JPF-5, the webinar will present performance results demonstrating 99.9% sulfur removal efficiency and SO2 emissions well below regulatory requirements.
Attendees will also gain insight into the integration of SmartSulf® with a compact caustic scrubbing polishing system, reducing utility consumption, CO2 emissions, and overall project costs compared with conventional tail gas treatment solutions.
