Praxair, Inc., a leading industrial gas company and recognised global leader in sustainable development, has earned a place in the 2016 Newsweek Green Rankings. The Green Rankings assess the overall corporate sustainability and environmental performance of the 500 largest publicly traded companies in the US and the 500 largest publicly traded companies globally.

Praxair ranked first among all industrial gas companies both in the US and globally. The company ranked fifth in the US chemicals industry and sixth in the worldwide chemicals industry. Overall, Praxair ranked No. 101 in the US 500 and No. 179 in the Global 500.

“We have embedded sustainable development across our business to help drive value throughout our company and appreciate being recognised by Newsweek Green Rankings for these efforts,” said Dr. Riva Krut, Chief Sustainability Officer for Praxair. “Environmental stewardship is good for Praxair as well as our customers, suppliers and communities, and our success is a direct result of the hard work and dedication of our employees globally.”

Newsweek’s rankings are based on research from Corporate Knights Capital and HIP Investor, which measured and assessed companies’ performance across eight specific indicators in environmental, social and governance areas.
