EIA: Monthly Energy Review

The US Energy Information Administration (EIA) has released its Monthly Energy Review for August 2015. The review stated:

• Primary energy consumption per capita in the US equalled 309 million Btu in 2014, which was virtually unchanged from 2013. Primary energy consumption per real dollar of gross domestic product (GDP) (in chained 2009 dollars) was 6170 Btu, a 1% decrease from the previous year.
• Carbon dioxide emissions from energy consumption per capita totalled 17 t in 2014, which was virtually unchanged from the previous year. Carbon dioxide emissions per real dollar of GDP equalled 339 t per million chained (2009) dollars, a 1% decrease from the previous year.
• In the most recent year for which data are available, US energy expenditures totalled US$1.4 trillion in 2013, a 2% increase from 2012. US Energy expenditures per capita exceeded US$4,300, a 1% increase from the previous year. In 2013, energy expenditures were 8.3% of nominal GDP and 4.6% of gross output, which includes both GDP and the value of intermediate inputs used to produce GDP.
