API Executive Vice President Marty Durbin welcomed the Senate’s action to approve the Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation (WIIN) Act that would improve America’s maritime infrastructure by ensuring that the Harbour Maintenance Trust Fund has the resources needed to maintain our nation’s ports and harbours.

“The United States is leading the world in the production of oil and natural gas and in the reduction of carbon emissions which are near 20 year lows,” said API Executive Vice President Marty Durbin. “Our nation’s leadership on these important issues depends on a strong infrastructure network across the nation. By taking steps to improve our nation’s ports and harbours, American consumers, American workers, and the environment will continue to benefit from America’s energy renaissance.”

The Water Infrastructure Improvements Act for the Nation (WIIN) Act, which passed the House and the Senate with bipartisan support, would ensure that the Harbour Maintenance Trust Fund has the resources needed to maintain our nation’s ports and harbours. America’s ports and harbours are essential to our energy infrastructure as approximately 40% of all goods moved on the nation's waterways are crude oil or petroleum products.
