Air Products

Sainsbury’s has announced the UK’s first supermarket forecourt hydrogen dispenser will be located at its Hendon store by the end of the year. Working with Air Products, the new dispenser will join a network of existing stations helping bring a breath of fresh air to residents and visitors in London and the South East. The SmartFuel station will be able to fuel a growing number of hydrogen powered fleets driving around the capital. From hydrogen powered buses running between Covent Garden and Tower Gateway, to hybrid delivery vans operated by Commercial Group and hydrogen powered taxis already driving on London’s roads; it is clear hydrogen isn’t a fuel of the future, it's a fuel for today.

Avishai Moor, Fuel & Kiosk Category Manager, Sainsbury’s said, ‘hydrogen vehicles are both environmentally friendly as well as efficient so we are really excited about being the first UK supermarket to trial this new technology and make it accessible to our customers.’

Chevron

Chevron Corporation has announced that its Bangladesh subsidiary has commenced natural gas production from the Bibiyana Expansion Project in the north eastern apart of the country. The project included an expansion of the existing gas plant to process increased natural gas volumes from the Bibiyana Field, additional development wells and an enhanced gas liquids recovery unit. The project is expected to boost Chevron operated natural gas production capacity in Bangladesh by more than 300 million ft3/d to 1.4 billion ft3/d. In addition, the project is expected to increase the company operated natural gas liquids production capacity by 4000 bpd to 9000 bpd. Chevron’s Bangladesh subsidiary has a 99% working interest in Bibiyana.

Jay Johnson, senior VP, Upstream at Chevron Corporation said, ‘the Bibiyana expansion represents Chevron’s commitment to developing new resources to meet energy demand in Asia. The expansion is one of a slate of projects across the region that will deliver on Chevron’s strategy to grow profitability in core areas.’

EPC

The Gulf Organisation for Industrial Consulting (GOIC) has signed a five year Memorandum of Understanding with Euro Petroleum Consultants (EPC). The MoU aims at facilitating the cooperation, coordination and business relationship between the two parties to pave the way for future agreements on specific projects. The MoU was signed by the GOIC Secretary General and the President of EPC in the presence of representatives from both parties at GOIC’s headquarters in Doha, Qatar.

Johnson Matthey

Vince Cable, Member of Parliament and Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) in the UK, was presented with the 25 millionth autocatalyst produced by Johnson Matthey’s manufacturing facility in Manesar, during a tour of British investments across India earlier this month. Johnson Matthey has been manufacturing emission control catalysts locally in India for over 15 years, giving it access to a growing industry and helping the company to establish a manufacturing footprint in an expanding economy.

Cable said, ‘the government’s industrial strategy is giving business the confidence to increase investment. Johnson Matthey is a fine example of the UK company success story in India and I am pleased to have today received the 25 millionth autocatalyst produced in India by the business at the Manesar facility.’

Tioga

Channelview Complex plans to add 550 million lbs/y of ethylene capacity, requiring an expansio of its 3900 acre facility and specialty pipes for chemical composition. Increasing the production of ethylene units as well as propylene, butadiene and benzene, the petrochemical plant required timely delivery of specialty pipes; each grade made of certain percentages and composition of material outside of the industry ASTM standards.

Tioga was awarded a contract to supply equipment for the Channelview expansion project by the managing engineering, procurement and construction company. By working closely with mills throughout the process, Tioga delivered on time and within budget.

Total

Pilippe Sauguent has been appointed President, Refining & Chemicals and a member of the Executive Committee of Total. Currently President, Gas & Power, he succeeds Partick Pouyanne who was named CEO and President of the Executive Committee of Total in October this year.
