The April 2016 Monthly Energy Review (MER), EIA's primary report of recent and historical energy statistics, was released on 26 April 2016. Preliminary estimates indicate that for January 2016:
- US net imports of energy equaled 1 quadrillion Btu, a 7% increase from January 2015.
- US primary energy imports totaled 2.1 quadrillion Btu, a 2% increase from January 2015, while crude oil made up 68% of primary energy imports, petroleum products 17%, and natural gas 13%.
- US primary energy exports totaled 1.1 quadrillion Btu, a 1% decrease from January 2015. Petroleum products made up 68% of primary energy exports, natural gas 15%, coal 10%, and crude oil 6%.
The MER provides monthly and annual data on total energy production, consumption, and trade; energy prices; overviews of petroleum, natural gas, coal, electricity, nuclear energy, renewable energy, and international petroleum; carbon dioxide emissions; and data unit conversions.
