Rosneft refineries complete transition to produce Euro 5 motor fuels

Hydrocarbon Engineering,

A range of technical and engineering measures have been completed at all Rosneft refineries, enabling the transition to Euro 5 standard gasoline and diesel fuel production.

The Customs Union's technical framework stipulates that domestic markets must switch to Euro 5 fuels starting 1 January 2016. Rosneft fulfilled its obligation for the transition to gasoline and diesel of the highest environmental standard on time.

The transition has been completed at Rosneft's refineries in Siberia: Angarsk Petrochemical Company and Achinsk Refinery. Earlier, the Euro 5 transition was finished at refineries in Kuibyshevsk, Novokuibyshevsk, Syzran, Saratov and Ryazan Refinery Company.

In 2015, major isomerisation units were commissioned at refineries in Kuibyshevsk, Novokuibyshevsk and Ryazan. Furthermore, the reconstruction of catalytic reforming units was implemented at the Syzran refinery, and reforming units at the Kuibyshevsk refinery.

In 2016, the company plans to produce over 10 million t of Euro 5 motor fuels and nearly 16 million t of Euro 5 diesel fuel. This does not include the output at NGK Slavneft.

The Rosneft refineries' transition to Euro 5 fuels production has been carried out part of a large scale investment and modernisation programme, as well as due to the proficiency and efficient teamwork of the company's employees.
