China has highest planned CDU capacity additions

China currently accounts for 29% of the total global CDU capacity in 2022. The country has seven planned refineries. The top refinery in terms of planned CDU capacity is Dayushan Island with 800 mbd. Dalian III and Jieyang are jointly in second, each with a capacity of 400 mbd.

Nigeria has an 11% share in the global planned CDU capacity in 2022. The country has eight planned refineries. The top planned refineries are Lagos I, Lagos VI and Immingiri with capacities of 650 mbd, 100 mbd and 60 mbd, respectively.

Kuwait is expected to contribute approximately 7% to the total global CDU capacity in 2022. The country has only one planned refinery, Al-Zour, with CDU capacity of 615 mbd.

Iran is in fourth with planned CDU capacity of 465 mbd, which accounts for 6% of the global total in 2022. The country has five planned refineries. The top refineries are Mazandaran, Kermanshah II, and Chabahar I with capacities of 240 mbd, 150 mbd, and 40 mbd, respectively.

Iraq is the fifth major country with planned CDU capacity of 440 mbd, which is 5% of the global total. The country has three planned refineries, Maysan, Kirkuk III, and Karbala with capacities of 150 mbd, 150 mbd, and 140 mbd, respectively.

The remaining four countries in the top 10 – Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Malaysia and Oman - together have CDU capacity of 1254 mbd, which is close to 15% of the global total in 2022. These countries are expected to add 400 mbd, 324 mbd, 300 mbd and 230 mbd, respectively, to the global CDU capacity by 2022.
