Hydrodec Group reveals plans for new re-refinery plant

Hydrodec Group is reportedly planning to develop a new oil re-refinery plant at Eastham Locks, Merseyside, next to the QE2 Dock and NuStar Terminal. The company is currently preparing a planning application with consultants Indigo Planning.

Hydrodec considered various sites in the UK for the new re-refinery; however, Eastham Locks was selected due to the close proximity of the Eastham Port facility, and the site’s road links to the motorway. The company has worked with transport and shipping consultants to establish the best possible routes into and out of the site, so as to cause the least amount of disruption to local residents, wildlife and traffic flow. Furthermore, the availability of the NuStar storage facility next door means that the size of the new facility can be kept to a minimum.

If approved, the new plant would create around 40 jobs, including office-based, shift, security and specialist roles. Construction work for the first phase of the project is expected to take approximately 12 – 18 months and the plant is set to be fully operational by the end of 2016.
