In 2014, RN-Aero, a subsidiary of Rosneft, increased its sales of jet fuel to 3.42 million t. According to company estimates, this accounted to approximately 34% of the total volume of jet fuel sold in Russia.
The increase in sales was attributed to the implementation of a strategy aimed at boosting the customer base and expanding the geography of the company’s presence. Over the past year, RN-Aero achieved 26% growth in the number of client agreements (the total number of clients now exceeds 300). At the same time, the company achieved significant growth in the volume of sales in key destinations such as Sheremetyevo, Koltsovo, Krasnodar and Adler.
RN-Aero’s involvement with the International Olympic Committee (Rosneft was the general sponsor of the 22nd Winter Olympics and 11th Paralympic Games in Sochi) also helped to boost sales throughout the year. RN-Aero provided refuelling of aircrafts during the games (at the peak of activity, the number of flights to and from Sochi airport increased by 300% compared to the average seasonal workload).
In 2014, the company began implementing its international expansion programme. As part of this programme, RN-Aero signed a cooperation agreement with leading jet fuel supplier Shell Aviation. In addition, a partnership agreement was signed with KazMunaiGas-Aero (a KazMunaiGas subsidiary) envisaging the organisation of high quality aviation fuel supply by RN-Aero to KazMunaiGas-Aero by the conclusion of storage contracts at the KazMunaiGas-Aero points of presence.
