ABB

ABB has been recognised by Thomson Reuters as one of the world’s top 100 innovators for a third year. This award acknowledges companies around the world for their outstanding commitment to global innovation, the protection of ideas and the commercialisation of inventions.

Ulrich Spiesshofer, ABB CEO said, ‘this recognition is a strong endorsement. Innovation is ingrained in the DNA of ABB and a pillar of our Next Level strategy. New technologies are at the core of driving profitable growth through our strategic focus on market penetration, innovation and expansion.’ ABB announced its Next Level strategy in September 2014. The company said it will drive profitable growth through focused initiatives on market penetration, innovation and expansion.

Air Products

Air Products has awarded the first Air Products Women of Gases & Welding Scholarship to Emilee Brittain, a welding engineering technology major at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan. Brittain will receive US$ 2500 toward her tuition for the current Fall semester. The scholarship recognises Brittain as an exemplary student who is eager to start her career in the welding industry.

Air Products Women of Gases & Welding Scholarship was inspired by the Women of Gases & Welding (WGW), an organisation under the Gases and Welding Distributors Association (GWDA) that was launched in 2011 for the advocacy, recruitment, and professional development of females in the gases and welding industry. The US$ 50 000 scholarship program, which was jointly established with the American Welding Society (AWS), is one of the company’s latest endeavours to promote careers in STEM.

Ametek

Ametek Inc has announced two promotions within its senior management team. Thomas C. Marecic and Ronald J. Oscher have each been promoted to President, Electronic Instruments Group. In these roles, they will be responsible for overseeing different divisions within the process businesses of Ametek’s Electronic Instrument Group. Tom and Ron will report to David A. Zapico, Ametek’s COO, who was overseeing these businesses since his promotion in December 2012.

Matrix Service

Matrix Service Company has announced that its subsidiary, Matrix Service Inc., has been awarded an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract by North Dakota Pipeline Company LLC, (NDPC), a subsidiary of Enbridge Energy Partners, LP. NDPC is expanding four existing crude terminal locations in North Dakota and Minnesota to support the proposed Sandpiper Pipeline Project (SPP), If approved, the 610 mile SPP will deliver Bakken light crude oil to US and eastern Canadian refineries. The contract award includes seven aboveground storage tanks with capacity in excess of 1 million bbls. Work will occur at terminal locations along with Sandpiper Pipeline, including Beaver Lodge, Stanley and Berthold, ND, as well as Clearbrook, Minn. This award further enhances Matrix Service’s already strong alliance with Enbridge and NDPC.

John Hewitt, CEO, Matrix Service Company said, ‘this expanded alliance award with NDPC further strengthens our long term commitment and relationship with Enbridge while continuing to support the build out of North America’s energy infrastructure.’
