Hydrocarbon Engineering,
Syzran Refinery, a Rosneft subsidiary, has switched to Euro 5 diesel fuel as part of a large scale investment programme to upgrade process capacity and improve its conversion rate, environmental impact and industrial safety.
Syzran Refinery produces more than 30 different petroleum products, which are in high market demand: motor gasolines and diesel fuels, fuel oil, bitumen, liquefied gases, raw natural gas liquids, sulfuric acid, jet fuels, marine fuels, etc. In 2014, the Syzran Refinery’s output topped 7 million, reaching 7 142 000 t of oil, 3.8 % (263 600 t) above the previous year.
A full transition to the latest environmental specification in diesel fuels ahead of the schedule established by the Russian legislators was made possible thanks to a number of technical solutions introduced by the refinery's process team, such as modifying the process flow of the diesel hydrotreaters and fine tuning the feedstock mix. Approximately 205 000 t of the highest environmental standard 10 ppm sulfur diesel is expected in May alone.
In March 2015 the Syzran Refinery launched Euro 5 motor gasolines. Therefore, with the latest developments, the refinery has now completed the transition to the highest environmental standard in fuels.
