More oil and gas industry announcements: 2 February 2015

Endress + Hauser

Endress + Hauser and Metso Automation Inc. are to restructure their sales and service activities in Switzerland and Finland with effect from July 1 2015. Both groups of companies will demerge their mutual minority shareholdings in the respective entities and establish their own dedicated sales and service organisation to serve their customers.

EPA

The US Environmental Protection Agency has issued a federal Clean Water Act order to ensure the continued cleanup of spilled jet fuel at a tank farm facility on the Sand Island Access Road in Honolulu. The order requires Airport Service Group International (ASIG), the facility operator, and Hawaii Fuelling Facilities Corp., the facility owner, to proceed with cleanup work that will prevent fuel from entering waters or shoreline areas. Since the 42 000 gal. spill was reported on January 21, the cleanup efforts overseen by EPA, along with Hawaii State Department of Health (DOH), has resulted in the recovery of over 16 000 gal. of spilled jet fuel at the ASIG facility, which provides airplane fuel at the Honolulu International Airport. DOH reports the release does not pose a risk to drinking water. However, fuel, has been found to have migrated offsite from the facility through subsurface contamination and is within 150 ft of the harbour.

GE Oil & Gas

GE Oil & Gashas announced the establishment of a consolidated reciprocating compression business (RC), bringing together its previous Gas Production and Distribution product line and the RC product line acquired from Cameron in June last year. This positions the new RC business to work seamlessly with its global customers and partners to deliver reciprocating compression innovation and technology that optimises the production and distribution of natural gas.

OCI Partners LP

OCI Partners LP has announced that it has completed all preturnaround and preshutdown works on its Beaumont facility. The partnership also announced that it has shut down its facility to commence its planned turnaround and complete its debottlenecking project that will increase its methanol and ammonia production capacities by 25% and 15% respectively. Methanol and ammonia production capacities are expected to be 912 500 tpy and 304 775 tpy after completion of the project. In addition to upgrading the capacities of both production lines, the scope of the debottlenecking project is also to: install a selective catalytic reduction unit to reduce NOx emissions from the facility’s reformer, a Saturator to reduce energy consumption and wastewater generated from the facility and a new flare system.

Oil and Gas Authority

Andy Samuel, Chief Executive of the Oil and Gas Authority has confirmed three senior appointments to the new independent regulatory body and outlined the structure of the new organisation he will build in the coming months. He has appointed the first three of six directors to his leadership team at the Oil and Gas Authority, the new regulatory body created following Sir Ian Wood’s review of the UK oil and gas industry in 2014.

TA Cook

TA Cook is pleased to announce the opening of its first office in Canada, to be based in Calgary, Alberta. Following strong growth in the company’s consulting business across the US and Canada, the new office supports TA Cook’s strategy to increase its presence in Canada to better service the asset intensive industries resident there. The office will be led by Dieter Koerner, Managing Partner North America and supported by a team consisting of Canadians and international experts.
