AkzoNobel to present new viscoelastic surfectant at Rio show

AkzoNobel, the world’s largest paints and coatings company and a leading manufacturer of specialty chemicals, will present its wide range of solutions and innovations for the oil and gas industry at Rio Oil & Gas, 15 – 18 September at Riocentro, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Among those novel solutions, Surface Chemistry business unit will present a new viscoelastic surfactant developed for completion fluids for use at high temperature and high pressure. The properties of this new viscoelastic surfactant make it more tolerant to challenging well conditions and superior to current gravel packing technologies.
On 16 September, Mr. Jian Zhou, AkzoNobel Global Research and Development Senior Section Manager for Oilfield, will present the paper ‘A New Viscoelastic Surfactant for Completion Fluids at HTHP’, which introduces the new surfactant and proves its ability to effectively build viscosity, transport and place gravel in a completion fluid.

AkzoNobel will also showcase its entire line of surfactants and polymers for oilfield production, drilling, stimulation and cleaning.
