Hi-Force launches new range of torque wrench pumps and torque multipliers

Hydrocarbon Engineering,

Hi-Force has released a new range of TPA and TPE air and electric driven torque wrench pumps that compliment its existing range of bolting products, which provide effective and safe bolting solutions to a wide variety of industries including oil and gas.

Hi-Force’s research, development, and design team created the new range of pumps with speed, reliability, and versatility in mind. Its high speed three stage design provides a faster flow at mid-range pressure, enabling projects with demanding time constraints to be completed as safely and efficiently as possible. The pumps multi outlet four-way design allows for four hydraulic torque wrenches to be used simultaneously providing an even compression of the critical leak sealing gasket on flange joint connections.

An automatically activated oil cooling heat exchanger, which is fitted on all electric models as standard, cools the pump and hydraulic fluid, extending the service life of this reliable range of pumps. The TPA air operated models incorporate an exhaust radiator located inside the oil reservoir, which also helps to keep oil temperature under control, during high usage operations.

The pumps provide consistent and reliable hydraulic power and have been designed to withstand the demands of operation in harsh environments and demanding high usage applications. The compact and rigid roll frame provides protection for the pump as well as providing a convenient method of maneuvering the pump on site. The lightweight aluminium reservoir, with a maximum capacity of 7 ltr, makes the TPA and TPE range one of the lightest hydraulic torque wrench pumps available in the market.

Hi-Force considered ease of use and safety throughout the entire design and manufacturing process, incorporating features such as a 5 m pendant cable which allows for considerable and safe distance between the pump and the bolting application. The single button operation of the pendant, allied to an emergency stop button, provide enhanced safety for operators when immediate release of pressure to the torque system wrench is essential.

The adjustable pressure relief valve with locking nut, for setting the maximum system pressure, acts as a further safety feature of the pump. Further user friendly features of the TPA and TPE range include glycerine filled gauge as standard which is conveniently located for ease of viewing. A digital gauge is also available as an optional extra, providing readings in Nm and Lbf.ft as well as Bar and PSI.

The TPE range of pumps is available in a choice of 12 models, all with a maximum working pressure of 700 bar/10 000 psi. Power supply options of 50 Hz and 60 Hz are available for both the 110 volt and 240 volt models. The TPA air driven version of the pump requires a 7.0 bar air supply and all models are available with either an analogue or digital pressure gauge. Both the TPA and TPE range of hydraulic torque wrench pumps are compatible for use with both the TWS-N square drive and TWH-N low profile female hexagon design Hi-Force hydraulic torque wrenches.

Hi-Force has additionally announced a new range of TWG and TWP & TWP-OG mechanical and pneumatic torque multipliers to its existing range of bolting products. The TWG range consists of 6 models with output torque capacities ranging from 50 to 10 000 Nm and multiplication rations of 1:4, 1:5, 1:5.5, 1:16, 1:18 and 1:28.5. Each torque multiplier model incorporates a high performance aluminium housing making them ideal for use in bolting applications in a wide variety of industries including plant engineering. All TWG models are fitted with an offset reaction arm while the larger torque capacity models are additionally fitted with anti-wind ratchet and non-destructive ‘slipper’ overload safety mechanism for gear protection.

Designed to provide smooth, controllable, bolt tightening operations, without impact or pulsing, the TWP pneumatic torque multipliers offer a repeatable torque accuracy of  +/-5%, as well as various other user friendly features, including low noise and an ultra-lightweight design, reducing operator fatigue while ensuring fast, consistent, and accurate tightening of bolted components. The powerful, but lightweight, pistol grip design air motor, allows the tools to be used for tightening and loosening of bolts. The non-impacting design of the planetary gears ensures that there is minimum wear to sockets and bolted components. The high grade steel gear box has a bright electro coating galvanized surface, offering even greater corrosion protection and reduces the importance of lubrication in the gear box. All models are supplied with airline pressure and lubrication control unit in a handy carrying frame with a 3 m length connecting hose with quick connect couplings. Accurate pre-set and consistent torque repeatability is easily achieved by adjusting the input air pressure to the tool, in conjunction with the calibration graph, supplied with each TWP tool.

A range of TWP-OG pistol grip pneumatic torque multipliers with integrated offset gearbox has also been launched, ideally suited to bolting applications on heat exchangers. The TWP-OG range can easily achieve pre-set torque by simply adjusting the input air pressure in conjunction with the pressure table supplied with the tool.

Average air consumption for both the TWP and TWP-OG range is 23 ltrs/sec from a standard airline pressure of 8 bar (49.5 ft3/min at 116 psi).
