The Lego principle
Smaller batches and different types of product in the same plant, these are the market demands to which more and more manufacturers in the process industries need to adjust. The answer is plants based on the Lego principle. Users can add modules or switch them off in line with requirements. But this can be achieved only with modular automation. The automation platform CPX from Festo is the central element in this concept, reflecting the motto ‘numbering up instead of scaling up.’
Flexible and modular production plants require autonomous intelligent units. This is where the worlds of the process industry and manufacturing industry meet, in their approach to Industry 4.0, the fourth industrial revolution. Digitisation and networking enable automated modules at field level to be connected simply and reliably with a master control system, while also providing communication between them, in just the same way as Lego bricks click together to form a solid but nonetheless flexible structure.
NAMUR valve
The standard NAMUR valve VSNC is certified worldwide in accordance with the usual explosion protection standards and can be used in many industry segments and applications. Its distinguishing features are a modern design, durable quality and fully tested technology and materials. It also offers an attractive price/performance ratio.
The standard NAMUR valve VSNC efficiently and reliably controls the flow of a wide range of media in very different ambient conditions, whether of liquids, bulk goods or gases in either the fine chemicals, pharmaceutical, water technology or food production industry. This is made possible by a broad choice of valve functions and an extended temperature range of -20 - +60 °C.
Pinch valves
Pinch valve VZQA from Festo come into their own in applications requiring smooth media flows and reliable shutoff. In many applications they are in ideal alternative to conventional valves such as diaphragm or ball valves, as they are particularly durable, energy efficient, easy to service and flexible in use thanks to their open architecture.
Pneumatic pinch valves are a clean, reliable and technically straightforward solution for controlling and shutting off a wide range of media. Whether dealing with liquid, fibrous, particulate or granular substances, they bring reliability and durability to all kinds of production processes. The VZQA product series from Festo offers modularity, flexibility, durability, ease of cleaning and straightforward servicing.
