On 19 March 2025, the front-end engineering and design (FEED) contract signing ceremony for the ITC-WasteFuel Ankara Green Methanol Project in Turkey was held at the Shanghai headquarters of Wison Engineering.

The ITC-WasteFuel project has aimed to utilise biogas generated from the waste treatment facilities of ITC in Ankara to produce green methanol. This marks Turkey's first biogas-to-methanol project. Wison Engineering, as a globally leading energy and chemical EPC service provider, will provide FEED design services for the project.

At the signing ceremony, both parties offered their congratulations on the signing of the contract and expressed enthusiasm about working together in the future. David Trench, CEO of WasteFuel, stated: “This next phase of project development is absolutely crucial and we're pleased to select Wison Engineering as our partner in this work. This project has the potential to become a global reference point in the green methanol landscape.”

Zhou Hongliang, CEO of Wison Engineering, added: "We are honoured to collaborate closely with WasteFuel and ITC to execute the Ankara Green Methanol Project in Turkey. This project represents another significant practice for us in the field of biogas-to-methanol and marks an important step in Wison Engineering's service upgrade within the new energy industry. We will fully leverage our strengths to provide high-quality services for the project, ensuring its smooth implementation."

Yavuz Kantur, General Manager of ITC Turkey, remarked: “This project is not only designed to deliver a low-carbon fuel, but also provide an innovative application for the 1.8 million t of municipal waste the site is currently receiving from the Ankara metropolitan area. Wison’s track record of delivering pioneering energy projects gives me confidence in this next phase of work.”

The signing of the FEED contract for the ITC-WasteFuel Ankara Green Methanol Project in Turkey marks a substantial step forward for the project. As a low-carbon, renewable fuel, the use of green methanol will effectively reduce the carbon footprint of the shipping industry and support the sector’s energy transition. Wison Engineering will collaborate with global partners to accelerate the implementation of green technologies and jointly drive the energy industry toward a more low-carbon and sustainable future.
