Johnson Matthey awarded contracts for G2X methanol facility

G2X Energy, a developer of advanced natural gas to methanol projects, along with its strategic partner the Proman Group, have entered into license and engineering contracts with Johnson Matthey for their previously announced world scale methanol production facility located in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Johnson Matthey will supply the technology license, basic engineering, catalyst and technical services for the project.

Once complete, the G2X facility, known as Big Lake Fuels Methanol Plant, will produce 1.4 million tpy of commercial grade methanol. "Johnson Matthey is a world leader in methanol process technology, engineering and engineering support services and we are extremely pleased to have them as part of our team on the Big Lake Fuels Plant," stated Tim Vail, President and CEO of G2X Energy, who went on to say, "With any project of this magnitude, it is imperative to partner with firms which share our commitment to safety, schedule and quality. Construction on the Big Lake Fuels Plant will take approximately 3 years to complete and will add 2500 direct and indirect jobs to the Lake Charles area during the construction period.
