Statement on oil exports
William O’Keefe, former Chief Operating Officer of the American Petroleum Institute made the following statement after the hearing on US oil exports in the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee.
‘Today’s hearing on oil exports arrives as a welcome conversation, the first hearing the US Senate has had in the last 25 years on ending the ban on crude exports. As the President pointed out in his State of the Union speech this week, oil production in the US is at an all time high and this current energy landscape presents a prime opportunity to strengthen trade partnerships. As the US Senators on the Energy and Natural Resources Committee determine next steps, I strongly encourage quick action to life the ban on exports, and not follow the sluggish approval process as we have seen with LNG exports.’
