USA refining news update
Delaware
On Saturday 28th September a boiler failure at the Delaware City refinery resulted in a release of smoke and other pollutants. The PBF Energy owned facility was fined for similar problems two months ago.
Hawaii
Hawaii’s largest refinery has been sold by Tesoro Corp. and bought by Par Petroleum Corp. Now, it has been reported that Chevron Corp is looking to sell, change operations or shut down the islands other refinery.
Ohio
It has been reported that Husky Energy Co. is seeking a permit for equipment changes to the Lima refinery. The permit is being sought from the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency as the company wish to process oilsands feedstock from Alberta, Canada. The upgrade work is expected to cost US$ 300 million.
Oklahoma
Nearly a year ago, two men died whilst trying to light a boiler at the CVR owned Wynnewood refinery. The two widows of these men are now suing the company who the OSHA says is responsible for the men’s deaths. The Mann lawsuit being filed by LeeAnna Mann is asking for US$ 5 million at least.
Wyoming
There were reportedly no injuries following a fire at the Sinclair refinery. The explosion occurred on Friday 27th September and resulted in a big fire. The scene was cleared at 3am on Saturday 28th.
