End of November: Asia and Pacific downstream update
Australia
Bechtel International Inc. has selected Honeywell to design and implement automation and safety solutions for anew multi train LNG facility under construction as part of the Australia Pacific LNG project in Queensland.
The Australia Pacific LNG project, a joint venture between Origin Energy, ConocoPhillips and Sinopec, will create a long term industry utilising Australia Pacific LNG’s coal seam gas resources in the Surat and Bowen basins. Bechtel selected Honeywell Process Solutions to provide vital integrated control and safety systems at the new facility, which is designed to convert coal seam gas to LNG. The project will produce coal seam gas for commercial markets both locally and overseas and already supplies gas to power stations in Queensland, major industrial customers and homes and businesses in south east Queensland.
India
The Andhra Pradesh government and Amerind Petroleum Pvt Ltd have exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding for relocation of a refinery near New Jersey, USA. The refinery was taken offline in 2009 during its 62nd year of operation. The facility will be reopened in Visakhapatnam. Relocation and reassembly of the facility is estimated to cost Rs 11 196 crore.
Mangalore refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd (MRPL) have announced that they are in talks with Brazil and Mexico to purchase heavy crudes. The company is expanding its processing capacity and is seeking new trade routes. Mexico’s Pemex and Brazil’s Petrobras are the two companies currently in discussion with MRPL.
ONGC Mangalore Petrochemicals Ltd has begun allotting portions of its US$ 250 million loan. The company are looking to construct an aromatics complex in the Mangalore Special Economic Zone.
Thailand
Bangchak Petroleum Pcl has announced plans to shutdown its 120 00 bpd for maintenance. The facility will be taken offline in May 2012 for 30 days as part of the company’s annual maintenance and upgrade program.
