Hydrocarbon plant modernisation in Oman

Hydrocarbon Engineering,

The Spanish Joint Venture of OHL Industrial and the engineering and technology group SENER has been awarded an engineering, procurement and construction contract for the simultaneous modernisation of two hydrocarbon plants of Petroleum Development Oman LLC (PDO).

The plants that will be modernized are the Saih Nihayda Gas Plant (SNGP) and the Saih Rawl Central Processing Plant (SRCPP), located in the central part of the country, in the Omani desert, near the city of Qarn Alam, 35 km from one another.

This project will allow PDO to maximise the recovery of hydrocarbon condensates present in natural gas that is extracted from the wells.

The contract has been signed according to the commitment for creation and maintenance of ‘In Country Value’ (ICV) that PDO promotes and that the consortium has adopted though the incorporation of Omani staff in key positions of the project, and designing Omani sub-contractors, or otherwise the area of its geographic influence to increase locals goods and services.

The contract enhances the position of both companies in the Middle East. In 2013, OHL Industrial established a subsidiary company, OHL Industrial & Partners LLC,  which along with the office in Abu Dhabi, strengthens its local presence in the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) market.

At the same time, SENER’s in Oman reasserts the group’s presence in the Middle East. Currently, it has offices in Abu Dhabi (UAE) and is taking on projects there, such as the light rail transportation system of Abu Dhabi, and also in neighbouring Qatar, with its involvement in the Lusail light rail transportation system.
