Clariant and Petronas sign licensing agreement
Clariant and Petronas Technology Ventures have entered into a licensing Term Sheet Agreement, which they formalised at a signing ceremony held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, in conjunction with OTC Asia 2014.
Mercury removal technology
Petronas’ HycaPure™ Hg is a solid-supported ionic liquid mercury removal technology. It effectively removes elemental, organic and inorganic mercury from natural gas, with an expected service lifespan up to three times greater than its competitors.
The product will be added to the portfolio of Clariant’s ActiSorb® GP 400 series adsorbents and complement the other ActiSorb® products, providing integrated solutions to meet tough industry requirements.
The adsorbent is also capable of handling mercury concentration surges in the gas stream during pipeline pigging activities, which is crucial in ensuring year-round maximum equipment protection.??
Comments
Petronas VP of Technology & Engineering Division, Colin Wong Hee Huing, commented: “Hycapure™ Hg has already been in use at Petronas’ gas processing plants for more than two years and it demonstrates high adsorbent capacity and stable performance. This licensing collaboration will allow the technology to go beyond our facilities and gain valuable access to the international market.”??
Clariant Senior VP and Head of Business Unit Catalysts, Stefan Heuser, added: “With the extended lifecycle of Hycapure™ Hg, the new addition to our ActiSorb® GP 400, we will continue helping our customers to achieve better sustainability and greater efficiency, at the same time.”
