ExxonMobil Foundation funds summer jobs program
The ExxonMobil Foundation has announced the 30 Dallas County nonprofit agencies to receive grants through the 2014 ExxonMobil Community Summer Jobs Program.
The eight-week summer program provides assistance to nonprofit agencies, while enabling college students to gain valuable work experience and a better understanding of the role of nonprofit organisations.
Community services
President of the Foundation, Suzanne McCarron, commented: “Nonprofit agencies provide vital community services, especially during the summer when children are out of school. In addition to helping these agencies realise their mission, the Community Summer Jobs Program aims to foster college students’ appreciation for the nonprofit sector, while also offering them opportunities to develop their skills.”
Paid internships engage students in a broad range of activities, such as coordinating camp programs for underprivileged children and developing marketing campaigns. In addition to daily internship duties, students also receive professional development and participate in a group service project.

Since 1990, the ExxonMobil Foundation has contributed almost US$ 4 million to fund the program in Dallas, subsidising nearly 1600 internships and benefitting over 330 agencies.
