Compressed natural gas corridor for West Virginia

It has been reported that a public/private partnership has been formed between the state of West Virginia and IGS Energy CNG Services to create a corridor of compressed natural gas (CNG) refuelling stations along Interstate 79 (I-79). The seed to create such a network was first planted in July 2011 when Earl Ray Tomblin, West Virginia’s Governor, created a Natural Gas Vehicle (NGV) Task Group, hoping to take advantage of the vast natural gas sources in the state.

The details

IGS Energy is going to invest US$ 10 million in the corridor as a response to the growing demand for CNG from private fleets and state vehicles. The first phase will include the construction of stations at Bridgeport, Charleston and Jane Law and another in Mt. Morris, Pennsylvania. Construction of this phase is scheduled for the first quarter of this year.
