Global downstream construction update

China

Sinopec and Kuwait Petroleum Corp. have begun constructing a US$ 9.3 million joint refining facility. The plant will also process petrochemicals and will be located in the Guangdong province. The facility is expected to be completed by 2015 and have a crude processing capacity of 300 00 bpd.

Costa Rica 

WorleyParsons will provide project management team and front end engineering and design services for the Soresco Moin refinery expansion project. The facility will be also be modernised during the work. WorleyParson’s US and Costa Rica offices will be involved in the project.

India

Amerind Petroleum Private Limited has been offered a contract by the Hyderabad state government for the construction of a new refinery in the Petro Chemical Petroleum Investment Region in Vizag. The refinery is estimated to cost Rs 11 136 crore. Both parties have signed a memorandum of understanding for the project. The first phase of the facility will have a processing capacity of 7.5 million tpy.

Saudi Arabia

Saudi Aramco have denied rumors that the company are looking to construct a refinery in Bangladesh.

USA

Foster Wheeler AG announced that part of its Global Engineering and Construction Group has been awarded a contract by Ryckman Creek Resources, LLC, a subsidiary of Peregrine Midstream Partners, LLC, for project management support for the 35 billion ft3 Ryckman Creek natural gas capacity storage facility. The new gas storage facility will serve the natural gas markets at the Opal Hub in Wyoming. The contract value, which was not disclosed, will be included in the company’s third quarter 2011 bookings. Foster Wheeler’s work on the contract is expected to continue through the third quarter of 2012.

Science Application International Corporation is now providing design build services for the support of all Holly Refining & Marketing’s Tulsa facilities. The contract is due to terminate in 2013 and be worth approximately US$ 38 million.
