Siemens Energy launch new industrial gas turbine at high profile event in Sweden

Siemens Energy has launched a new 37 MW industrial gas turbine at the company’s production facilities in Finspong, Sweden. The full day event on 18 November 2010 was hosted in Finspong and Norrköping and was attended by members of the press, (including Energy Global) alongside a number of potential purchasers from around the world.

With a capacity of 37 MW, the SGT-750 sets a new industry benchmark and aims to close a gap in the Siemens industrial gas turbine portfolio, which offers a range between 5 and 50 MW. As a versatile machine, it can be employed both for power generation and as a mechanical drive. The new development provides economic viability and ecofriendliness as well as a high level of availability and reliability, with maintainance downtimes being cut to 17 days in 17 years (the highest uptime in its class).

Siemens foresees a marked increase in demand for gas turbines with ratings between 35 and 40 MW up to 2020. Markus Tacke, CEO of the Industrial Power Business at Siemens remarked: “The outstanding level of availability, reliability and service-friendliness of this gas turbine is based on intensive engineering, a wealth of experience and proven technology.”
