Late November: North America downstream update
Alberta
Shell has started maintenance at the Scotford refinery, Edmonton, Alberta. During this maintenance period there will be no effect on production levels at the facility which has a processing capacity of 97 870 bpd.
Minnesota
Flint Hills Resources wants to spend US$ 400 million to upgrade its Pine Bend refinery. The upgrades would improve the facility’s efficiency but increase its greenhouse gases output level. The work will allow the plant to get closer to its maximum processing capacity of 320 000 bpd but will increase the output of CO2.
Texas
The children of the late Mary Johnson are filing a wrongful death suit against Total Petrochemicals and Refining. Ms Johnson worked at the Port Arthur refinery and was allegedly exposed to benzene, which resulted in her developing leukaemia Polycythemia Vera resulting in her death.Edited from various sources by Claira LLoyd.
