Oil and gas companies contribute to Oklahoma tornado relief
Phillips 66 , ConocoPhillips, Koch Industries, and ExxonMobil have announced planned financial contributions to relief efforts in Oklohoma, following the tornadoes that devastated the cities of Moore and Shawnee, and affected other areas of the state.
Phillips 66 plans to donate US$ 1 million to the American Red Cross. Greg Carland, company chairman and chief executive office, has expressed sympathy for those affected, additionally outlining relief that all of the firm’s Oklahoma employees are unharmed.
ConocoPhillips will also contribute US$ 1 million to the American Red Cross in Oklahoma and has simultaneously pledged to match any donations from ConocoPhillips employees.
An additionally US$ 1 million donation will be made by Koch Industries. Half of this sum is intended for the OK Strong Disaster Relief Fund. The remainder will be donated to the American Red Cross and The Salvation Army to help families with their most urgent needs including housing, transportation, and clothing.
Finally, ExxonMobil Corporation will donate US$ 500 000 to the American Red Cross. The company’s chairman and chief executive officer, Rex W. Tillerson, has outlined hope that the donation will help to mitigate the ongoing effects of the disaster.
